Mission and Objectives of the Institute

 

The Area: Bornova Veterinary Control and Research Institute is responsible for  the Aydın, Denizli, Izmir, Kütahya, Manisa, Muğla and Uşak provinces in the Aegean Region of Turkey.

Mission and Objectives of the Institute

Our institute has laboratories which are National Referance Laboratories for Fish Diseases, Bi valve Mollusc Diseases, Avian Influenza, and Antibiotic Residue Analyses in food. It is  the only control center for Veterinary Vaccines and Biological Products in the country, therefore our institute acts on a national level for this issue as well.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Bornova Veterinary Control and Research Institute provides diagnostic services for the diseases of big and small ruminants, poultry, companion animals, bees and aquatic species as well as analytical examinations for foods of animal origin in the  Aydın, Denizli, Izmir, Kütahya, Manisa, Muğla and Uşak provinces of the Aegean region of Turkey. The institute, as well as being the only center in Turkey for the control of  veterinary biological products imported or locally produced, also carries out the services of National Referance Laboratory for Antibiotic Residue Analyses, Fish Diseases, Bi valve Mollusc Diseaes and Avian Influenza.

 

Our institute, provides research, education and consultancy sevices and also publishes a scientific journal.

Quality Goals

 

-         Constant improvement and rising standards for quality. Goals are set in annual meetings of the board  and the achievement level of these goals is evaluated through these meetings.

-         Accreditation of departments/laboratories about test methods which have priority.

-         Increasing the number of accredited test methods.

-         Decreasing the number of unsuitable experiments.

-         Ensuring customer satisfaction

-         Communicating the test and analysis results to the customer on time.

-         Continous education and training opportunities for both the experienced and newly appointed employees of the institute about  quality management system, test methods, validation, calibration, and operational methods according to the TS ISO EN/IEC 17025 system.

-         Constant improvement in the laboratory infrastructure.

-         To ensure profieciency by taking standard tests and by comparisons with other laboratories.
