Pathology Department

Diagnostic Services: Pathology Department provides pathological diagnosis for cases which cannot be diagnosed or which do not respond to treatment, in cases of disease outbreaks and on all animal and animal biopsy materials.Our department also provides insight and assistance on judiciary cases.

Our department also provides diagnosis for animals that are used in laboratory animal trials carried out in our Veterinary Vaccines and Biological Products Control Unit.

Disease Monitoring and Screening:

Our department has been carrying out the National BSE and Scrapie Screening Programme since 2001. In 2003 Scrapie and FSE diseases have also been included into the programme.

As BVCRI acts as the National Referance Laboratory for all shell fish diseases, Pathology Department provides histological diagnosis of bi valve mollusc diseases including the notifiable diseases. It has carried out  National Screening Programme in this area since 2004.

Training and Consultancy

Our department contributes to the education and training to veterinarians who work in related provinces and to researchers in other veterinary research institutes by educational seminars and programmes.

Pathology Department prepares and applies the training programmes for new researchers in the institute.

Our department contributes to the commisions and meetings related to Animal Diseases and Health Issues.

Research and Publications

Our department prepares and carries out research projects related to our area area of expertise.

We prepare and distribute training documents.

We publish articles, reviews, poster presentations e.t.c. related to our research and and issues regarding animal health.
